Plans for six apartments on vacant land in Wellingborough town centre have been re-submitted.

Sefolli Development Ltd wants to build the flats on land to the rear of retail and residential premises at 28a Cambridge Street and Victoria Road.

The scheme for the site, which is bound by buildings to the north, east and west and Matalan car park to the south, has been revised from a previous application with the proposed dwellings now reduced in height to two storeys.

Documents submitted for consideration state: "The applicant, owner and developer Sefolli Development Ltd is extremely keen to proceed with this development at the earliest date practical.

"The site is becoming overgrown and unattractive and should be developed this year.

"This proposal of six dwellings is considered to be a financially viable scheme, particularly in the present market environment."

The documents say the intention is to enhance this vacant site for town centre residential usage, and the scheme design is sympathetic to the fact it is in the conservation area.

Access to the brownfield site is from Victoria Road and it is proposed that parking for the development would be on-street, rather than any on-site parking.

Information in the planning documents say: "It would appear that the available parking shall be sufficient, considering the type of development proposed and likely levels of car ownership for a development in this location being sold without parking.

"The scheme proposal includes for the safe storage of six bicycles."

The planning application will be considered by Wellingborough Council.
