The single apartment building will be two-and-a-half storeys high, including 19 one-bedroom and 23 two-bedroom apartments. The one-bedroom bungalow will be located at the front of the complex on 19 Herne Road, on the south-eastern edge of Oundle.
It will include a homeowners’ lounge, guest suite, reception area, mobility scooter storeroom with charging points and a communal garden outside. Three-quarters of the apartments will also have private balcony areas or patios.

Currently, the site contains a single residential home and is predominantly greenfield land with an unused paddock that is situated to the rear. The house at 19 Herne Road is proposed to be demolished to provide sufficient room to accommodate the new driveway into the development. A total of 32 car parking spaces will be provided for residents, staff and visitors.
In north Northamptonshire, the population of people aged 65-plus increased by 30 per cent from 2011-2021 and the projections show the population of this cohort is set to increase by 54 per cent by 2038. North Northants Joint Core Strategy is supportive of the provision of specialist older persons housing to meet the demand of people of retirement age.
