A police presence in Rushden on Saturday night (September 26) was in response to a man falling down the stairs.

Rushden residents noticed a number of police officers and police tape around John Clark Way near the old station on Saturday night.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said officers attended the scene in John Clark Way at around 9.15pm.

They said: "A man suffered injuries as a result of falling down some stairs. He was taken to hospital with facial injuries but they are not believed to be life threatening or life changing.

"Police attended as there was a suggestion that it could be suspicious but after an investigation no suspicious circumstances were ascertained."
