Cycle4Cynthia took place at Althorp on Sunday offering riders routes of five, 25 and 50 miles. Northampton Saints stars were out in force to support the event, including director of rugby, Jim Mallinder, who started the first ride.

Teams taking part included The Melbourne Arms in Duston, who last year raised £64,000.

Posting on their Facebook page, organisers said last night: “Thank you to all cyclists, pit stoppers, marshals and volunteers who made the event so special today. Even the weather played its part!”

Full details of the amount raised will be released once all sponsorship money is collected.
