Mike Lewis, manager at Pitsford Hall weather centre, said winds will gradually pick up to a moderate south-westerly this evening.

He said people should expect some light showers, but they will mainly consist of rain, perhaps turning “wintry” overnight. Temperatures will fall to about one degree Celsius

However, the county is still set for snow by late Monday morning.

Mr Lewis said: “It will be a wet start on Monday with a mix of rain, sleet and increasingly snow as we head through the morning and into the afternoon. Temperatures will climb to about three degrees Celsius.

“The last of the snow showers will clear during the early evening with everywhere becoming dry overnight.”

Looking ahead to Tuesday, Pitsford Hall has said there is unlikely to be more snow, but ice is expected to become hazardous in places during the morning as temperatures drop to minus three degrees Celsius.
