Year 11 and 13 pupils say goodbye to school with but without proms and parties, or exams

For Year 11 and Year 13 pupils across north Northamptonshire, as in the rest of the county, the school year did not end in exams and proms but abruptly, on March 20.

At the start of the pandemic, pupils preparing to take their GCSEs and A-Levels were told by the Department for Education that exams and assessments were cancelled in order to “give pupils, parents, and teachers certainty, and enable schools and colleges to focus on supporting vulnerable children and the children of critical workers”.

With prom dresses and suits already bought, some people held their own home proms and some pupils were allowed back to say goodbye to friends and teachers.
