Work on Corby's new Sports Direct to start within weeks

Shop fitters are to start work the transform the former TJ Hughes building in Corby within two weeks.

Town Centre owners Sovereign Centros are hoping that the new Sports Direct and USC store in Queen's Square could be open by the Easter weekend.

The shop - which was once the town's Littlewoods store - has stood empty since TJ Hughes moved out in 2011.

Corby Town Centre manager Dan Pickard said: "We're hoping to get the shop up and running around about Easter.

"Obviously it hasn't been occupied in a long time so it needs an awful lot of work but the fitters will be in in the next couple of weeks.

"It's going to be a fantastic store."
