Wicksteed Park will celebrate the full opening of its rides and attractions for 2020 with Locals Days full of special offers and prizes.

The Locals Days will be held before the full park opening on Saturday, April 4.

The park's head of marketing, Rachel James, said: "Locals Days are a way of giving something extra to our most loyal customers but they are also a way to encourage those people who may not have visited us for a while to come back and have a look at the improvements we have made to the park.

"They are called Locals Days but anyone is welcome to come along and take advantage of the offers and enjoy a day out."

Those buying ride tickets will be entered into a draw for 10 golden tickets which will win prizes like free ice creams and tickets to events like fireworks night and the Magical Wicksteed Christmas Experience.

Wicky Bear will also be making appearances in the local area and there will be more competitions on social media.

Other special offers include savings on ride tickets when you buy more than 50, 75 and 100 tickets; discounts on food and drink, car parking, Clip 'n' Climb and Wicky's Play Factory.

There are some new attractions at Wicksteed Park this year, including Wicky's Mini Rangers where you can drive a mini Land Rover Defender through a safari adventure; a Sway Rider wave swing and the Clip 'n' Climb attraction suitable for all the family.

Rachel James added: "We consider ourselves to be part of the local community and we have tried to listen to the feedback customers have given us, with things such as reinstating the annual redemption period for ride tickets."

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Wicksteed Park's website says it is currently open and are working to minimise the spread of the virus.

The park is following and monitoring official guidance from the UK government and Public Health England.

The statement says the park has been educating staff on prevention, emphasizing frequent and proper handwashing, cleaning high contact points, providing hand sanitizers, and working with local health authorities.
