Wellingborough residents will have the opportunity to pick their own pumpkin and win prizes at an event later this week.

Taking place on October 29 from 11am until 3pm in preparation for Halloween, the town’s Swansgate Shopping Centre will be hosting an ‘artificial-style’ pumpkin patch, giving shoppers the opportunity to select a pumpkin and try their hand at winning a series of prizes including gift vouchers, sweets and more. The centre asks for a £2 donation in return for the pumpkin.

Three charities will be chosen by Swansgate, with one being chosen by a vote on social media, that will receive 100 per cent of the proceeds raised from the pumpkin patch.

A Halloween photo area will also be present, allowing attendees the opportunity to capture the moment. Those who upload their photo to social media, tagging the centre, will be entered into a draw to win a £50 voucher to be spent in a participating store.

Fiona Stevens, marketing coordinator at Swansgate Shopping Centre, said: “We are so excited to be able to support the Wellingborough community through this Halloween campaign. It provides a great spotlight for a local charity to not only raise funds but spread awareness.”

She added: “Our sustainable approach to our pumpkin patch is one we hope will inspire and encourage our shoppers to reuse each year and celebrate the spooky season ahead.”
