Wellingborough Council has approved funding of £300,000 for voluntary and community grants covering housing support, community, and health and wellbeing projects during 2020-2021.

New applications were invited from the sector, as well as carrying on with previous contracts, for innovative projects to work alongside the council and help meet its business objectives set out in the annual corporate plan.

Partnership bids were encouraged to ensure that the sector works closely together and with the council, to maximise available resource to meet existing and emerging community need.

Council Leader Cllr Martin Griffiths said: “The council is proud of our local voluntary and community sector and is pleased to be able to invest in the sector to deliver much needed services to local people.

“These extra grants help give vital support to the borough’s most vulnerable residents and are a great opportunity for organisations to work together to create the best ways of adapting and delivering services in the current climate and in the future.”

Project ideas were submitted under two categories, Housing and Associated Community Support and Improving Health and Wellbeing.
