Wellingborough family-owned firm virtually walks the UK coastline in support of the Daylight Centre

Staff at a Wellingborough company have successfully completed a charity challenge to virtually walk the coastline of the UK in 40 days.

TLX is a locally based, family-owned company who like to get involved and support the community.

A spokesman for TLX said: “As a small company we have challenged our team to virtually walk the coastline of the UK in 40 days.

"We have successfully completed the challenge and have just completed the second time around on the final day of the challenge.

"It was decided that we would do this challenge for the Daylight Centre in Wellingborough.

"Along with sponsorship for the walk, we have also collected donations by our staff for the foodbank.”

Through sponsorship and donations, they have raised £900 and a further £500 was donated by the director of TLX on completion of the second circuit of the UK.

In addition to this, members of the team signed up for blood and stem cell donations in February and gave up alcohol for the month.

They plan to do something different every month and will be keeping the fundraiser and food collection going as they want to continue supporting a local charity that improves the lives of people every day.

The TLX spokesman added: “The team have fully embraced this, they're feeling healthier and happier, it has pushed us out of our comfort zone, to go out at all times in all weather and it has made us kinder and more appreciative.”

The Daylight Centre is based in High Street, Wellingborough.

A post on their website says: “TLX, the Wellingborough electronics and tech retailer, have kicked off a year of well-being and giving-back challenges.

"And we're proud to say that Daylight Centre Fellowship is one of the causes they're supporting.”

And it went on to say: “Alongside the challenge, TLX are donating food and funds to help us continue supporting people across North Northamptonshire who are facing homelessness, poverty and social isolation.

"That support makes a real difference to the people who walk through our doors every day.

"It helps us keep our Community Hub open, provide meals and essentials, and be there for people when they need somewhere safe to turn.

"A huge thank you to TLX and everyone taking part.”

More information about the fundraising challenges is available online.

TLX also has a fundraising page if anyone would like to make a donation towards their fundraising.
