Wellingborough driver caught over twice legal alcohol limit and with no valid insurance banned from driving
Thomaz Wojcichowski has been banned from driving for 46 months after being caught over twice the legal alcohol limit.
On the evening of Monday November 10, a police patrol in Midland Road, Wellingborough, flagged Wojcichowski in a silver Mercedes, which showed no tax on the DVLA database.
In custody, he delivered a reading of 74 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml breath, with the legal limit set at 35mg.
Arresting officer, PC Kyle Jones of Wellingborough Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We see the devastating effects drink driving can have and therefore it is extremely disappointing that some people still choose to ignore our advice and break the law in this way.

“Getting behind the wheel – nearly two times over the limit – is not just selfish, but dangerous and reckless and Thomaz Wojcichowski is fortunate that his actions didn’t kill or seriously injure someone.
“Reducing the number of people killed or seriously injured on our roads remains a priority for Northamptonshire Police and our partners at the Northamptonshire Safer Roads Alliance, and we will continue to robustly keep such irresponsible drivers off our roads.”
Wojcichowski, 41, was followed by police to his home in Fields View, where it was found that not only did the car not have tax, but Wojcichowski was currently banned from driving until December of next year, due to a previous drink driving conviction.
Wojcichowski pleaded guilty to all three offences – drink driving, driving while disqualified and without valid insurance at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, November 11.
As well as the 46-month ban, he was also given a community order, a rehabilitation activity, instructed to complete 160 hours of unpaid work, and ordered to pay £114 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
