Wellingborough Council will ask magistrates this morning (Friday, September 18) to help it remove a group of Travellers from land it owns at Park Farm Industrial Estate.

The authority has already asked the group parked up on land off Sinclair Drive to move on and the next step in the process is to go to magistrates to ask them to make an order under Section 77 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 that will allow the council to formally evict them.

Borough solicitors will appear at Northampton Magistrates today to ask for the order to be granted. If the Travellers do not then leave the public land, they are in breach of the court order and committing a criminal offence.
