With social distancing measures in place and all non-essential visits from family and friends temporarily stopped, Anchor care homes have been using Skype and FaceTime to help residents stay connected with family and friends.

Bilton Court already have iPads and are aiming to increase the numbers available for their residents to use.

Carley Young, home manager of Bilton Court, said: “We want to ensure that all our residents can make use of technology to remain in constant contact with their families and friends.

"We are reaching out to anyone who may be able to loan or donate an old iPad or tablet they are currently not using.

"Not being able to physically see family and friends can be upsetting, especially for residents who are living with Dementia and forget why their loved ones are not able to visit.

"Equally we have residents who are visually impaired and for them to be able to look at a bigger screen really helps them.

“We also support the residents use of iPads and tablets to play games, take part in quizzes and listen to music which helps them to keep their minds active.
