Water level reduced at Northamptonshire reservoir so improvements can be carried out

A project to make improvements to a Northamptonshire reservoir is set to run for the next few months.

Work is being carried out to improve the reservoir at Sywell Country Park, which is managed by North Northants Council.

A message on the park’s social media pages says: “You may have noticed the water level in the reservoir dropping.

"We are intentionally reducing the level by three metres to enable important improvements to be carried out.

"In the unlikely event of an emergency, we need to ensure the water levels can be lowered quickly.

“Currently the reservoir drains at only 30 per cent of the required speed; the planned project will increase the drawdown speed so the dam can be safely emptied if needed.

"This project is due to run for the next few months.”

Fishing at Sywell will still be permitted to season ticket holders during the works while it is still safe and feasible to do so, but if it becomes unfeasible, partial refunds will be made to ticket holders for the remainder of the season.
