Waendel Walk returns to Wellingborough this May

Walkers from around the world will descend on Wellingborough for the annual Waendel Walk.

Registration is now open for the international walking event taking place from Friday, May 8, until Sunday, May 10, and participants are encouraged to sign up to secure the early bird discounts.

Wellingborough is the only town in England to host the International Marching League event, which attracts people from across the country and globe, reaching as far as Australia and America.

Chairman of the Waendel Walk Working Party, Cllr Malcolm Waters, said: “The international Waendel Walk will return once again this May and we’re looking forward to making this year’s event better than ever.

"This annual event provides participants with the opportunity to get outside and explore Wellingborough’s countryside.

"I’d encourage everyone to sign up and join us for the 41st event.”

Council leader Cllr Martin Griffiths, added: “This event has grown in popularity and size over the last few years.

"I am pleased that we will once again welcome walkers to join us for the annual international walking weekend.

"I look forward to working with our partners to deliver this fantastic event once again.”

This year’s event will feature improved routes, providing road and field courses for everyone in the local community, as well as events and entertainment for all the family throughout the

weekend.

All walks start and finish at the Castle Theatre.
