The 21-year-old appeared before Northampton Magistrates Court yesterday (Monday, November 10), where he was remanded into custody until his next court appearance on December 22 at Northampton Crown Court.

As a result of the incident, Huxlow Academy in Finedon Road, Irthlingborough went into lockdown on Friday afternoon.

A letter to parents from headteacher, Kim Isaksen, read: “Following the incident at the end of the school day today we received a call from Northants Police advising us of an incident close to the school and asked we go into lockdown. “Staff quickly retrieved any students who were leaving the site, closed, and locked the gates. “We appreciate how worrying this must have been for families but the students’ safety is always our utmost priority.” She added: “Once the police called to advise the situation was under control, students were allowed to make their way home. A text message was sent to parents/carers as soon as possible to advise of the ever-changing situation.

“In assemblies and during tutor time next week, we will share with students the importance of a lockdown, why we need to do this and share as much information as we are able as to why we had to take this course of action.”
