A nursery in Thrapston now has a large collection of new books thanks to a nearby housebuilder's donation.

To mark National Storytelling Week (January 30th to Febuary 6), David Wilson Homes gave the books to Crazy 4 Kids in Huntingdon Road.

Spanning a huge range of children’s fiction authors and exploring a number of themes and topics, the selection of titles donated is intended to encourage reading from an early age.

The nursery, located near the housebuilder’s development The Nurseries, was delighted to receive the donation of books for their children, who range from babies to five-year-olds.

Nursery manager Julie said: “Books play an important part of children’s development. They can spark babies and children’s imaginations and stimulate curiosity.

"Books support communication and language development, social skills, concentration, and more importantly help young children to make sense of the world around them.”

Included within the donation were titles from best-selling authors including David Walliams, Roald Dahl and Eric Carle.

Jason Hearn, sales director at David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said: “We hope that by donating books by a number of well-respected children’s authors, the children and the staff at Crazy 4 Kids will be able to enjoy National Storytelling Week together.

“Campaigns such as these give us the opportunity to support the communities in which we build and this week in particular is great for encouraging skills such as reading, writing, listening and creativity.”
