The 'Great' new chip shop 'raising the standards' of cuisine in Northamptonshire town
The owner of a new traditional fish and chip shop has said his second business will raise the standards of the shops on offer in Burton Latimer.
Entrepreneur Hilmi Kutlubay welcomed local councillor Maurice Eglin, vice-chairman of North Northants Council, to cut the ribbon to launch ‘The Great’ in Churchill Way.
The chippy, that also has chicken and burgers on the menu, is a joint venture between Mr Kutlubay and colleague Gem, bringing his 19-year fish frying expertise learnt in Grimsby.
Mr Kutlubay said: “It’s all brand new. We’re raising the standards in the town. I’ve got an expert in the industry working here. We are using Red Tractor certified standards and MSC certified standards seafood. We will provide the best standards and the best service – that’s why it’s The Great!”

The Great fish and chip shop will open six-days-a-week, Monday to Saturday 11.45am to 9.30pm for takeaways and deliveries.
After enjoying a small portion of fish and chips Cllr Eglin said: “I’m very proud and honoured to represent North Northants Council and officially open a new business in Burton Latimer. I wish them every success. The food is awesome.
“A lot of hard work, long hours and determination have gone into opening an amazing new local business, and getting it over the line just before Christmas makes it even more special.”
