A 19-year-old woman passenger is in critical condition in the major trauma unit at Coventry hospital after a crash near Northampton on Wednesday morning.

Two men were also rushed to Northampton General Hospital with serious injuries following the smash in Station Road, Little Houghton, at about 10.30am yesterday.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "A blue Vauxhall Astra was travelling along Station Road towards Little Billing when it collided with a black Audi A3.

"The drivers of both cars — one a 23-year-old man and the other a 50-year-old man — were taken to Northampton General Hospital with serious injuries.

"The front seat passenger of the Vauxhall Astra, a 19-year-old woman, was conveyed to University Hospital Coventry with life-threatening injuries."

Detectives from Northamptonshire's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman said: "We would ask anyone with information — who may have witnessed this incident or may have dashcam footage — to call the Drivewatch Hotline on 0800 174615 using incident number 489 of 02/09/20."
