Signs going up as Rushden Town Council closes all its playgrounds

Rushden Town Council has closed all its playgrounds and Jubilee Skatepark.

The authority is taking this action to protect the health and safety of its residents as per government guidelines to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.

A council spokesman said: "In line with Government regulations to reduce the spread of coronavirus, Rushden Town Council has closed all playgrounds, this includes Jubilee Skatepark.

"Signage is being put up from today (Tuesday) to make people aware of these closures.

"We are keeping our parks open, but we urge you all to adhere to Government guidelines."

The guidelines are to stay at home, only one form of exercise a day either alone or with members of your household and keeping a two-metre distance from others.

Parks will remain open for exercise, but gatherings will be dispersed.
