A five-year-old Corby schoolboy and his mum have been treated to a personal video call with Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, to highlight the struggle of the most vulnerable people living with medical conditions during lockdown.

Kaydyn Mcveigh, who was born with cystic fibrosis, and his mum Leanne received the royal call at their home in Corby where they have been shielding to protect the family from Covid-19.

Footage of the call featured on BBC TV's The One Show on Tuesday June 16, to highlight the work Prince William has been doing focusing on how extremely vulnerable people are coping with the coronavirus lockdown conditions.

Leanne said: "I watched it last night and I got very emotional seeing Kaydyn."

Prince William admired Kaydyn's colourful tTshirt saying on the video call as the five-year-old tried to get the garment in shot.

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition affecting more than 10,500 people in the UK. It is caused by a faulty gene that affects the movement of salt and water in and out of cells. This, along with recurrent infections, can result in a build-up of thick, sticky mucus in the body's tubes and passageways – particularly the lungs and digestive system.
