Share stories of your time at Wellingborough secondary school as ex-pupils hold reunion this weekend
The Cannon pub in Wellingborough will host a reunion of students from John Lea School, hoping to bring together those who attended the Wellingborough school for a night of reminiscing on old memories, and creating new ones.
The pub in Cannon Street, Wellingborough will see pupils from all years come together at 7pm, with slideshows of old photographs, a DJ from 8pm, and entertainment from singer, Bonito Star.
Niki Goodman is one of the organisers of the reunion. She said: “I am a firm believer that John Lea has been a large part of Wellingborough history. Turning out students like Anita Neil and attracting visits from royalty. Going on tour performing an opera and releasing a record. Many people in town have a relative who attended.
“Having been closed for so many years, it’s time for everyone to get together, see some old faces and maybe share a story or two.

“With a slideshow of all the old photos and an evening of entertainment, hopefully we can bring back some old memories and laugh together or moan together.”
Built in 1953, John Lea was a secondary school in Doddington Road, Wellingborough, but closed due to a low pupil count in July 1998 and was later demolished in 2001.
