After a rigorous interview process and a nervous wait, Dawid was offered a place earlier this month as one of only four students to study geography at St John's College.

Dawid said: "I was so shocked to get a place at St John's College, Oxford.

"The spaces were so limited, I was amazed to get one."

The school said Dawid has been an ambitious and determined student since Year 7 and he has proven that hard work, a positive friendly attitude and having a dream can lead to great opportunities.

Never being one to relax, Dawid took photography GCSE in Year 9, gaining a grade B.

Dawid then achieved two Grade 9s, four Grade 8s and five Grade 7s for his GCSEs.

Dawid has already taken A-level Polish and AS creative writing and achieved grades A* and B.

Steve Elliott, principal at Wrenn School, said: "We are so proud that Dawid has been offered a place at Oxford University to study geography.

"At Wrenn our students are ambitious and strive for excellence in all that they do.

"Dawid’s incredible achievement has paved the way for other Wrenn students to follow and we wish him every success in the future."

Inspectors from Ofsted said the sixth form was 'a strength of the school' in its most recent inspection, which was carried out in May 2018 and rated the school as good in all areas.
