Rushden's 'Mr and Mrs Halloween' bring spooky collection as new attraction to Wicksteed Park in Kettering

A couple who have become known as Mr and Mrs Halloween due to their vast Halloween collection have invited the public into their spooky world.

Steve and Kat Richardson are believed to have the UK’s largest hoard of collectibles, props, and animatronics, totalling around 2,000 items, which they have amassed over ten years.

The couple, who fittingly live in the original Cemetery House in Rushden, have now joined forces with Wicksteed Park, Kettering, to create a family-friendly walk-through Halloween attraction.

Steve said: “We started with a small display over ten years ago and our collection just grew from there. We are never short of ideas of what to buy for the displays, and our search history makes for interesting reading.”

The couple originally created a Halloween attraction in their garden each year, to raise money for charity, but its popularity and the increasing number of people attending meant they had to look for somewhere bigger.

Kat said: “Wicksteed Park have provided the ideal indoor space which has allowed us to show off much more of our collection and create something we are really proud of, while continuing to support our chosen charities and Wicksteed Park too.”

Items range from a towering 10-foot animatronic reaper to a tiny mouse skeleton.

The 200ft long interactive attraction that features everything from vampires, werewolves, spiders and much more opened on October 5.

The Wicksteed Park Haunted Halloween House had to be created and built from scratch by Steve and Kat themselves in their spare time, taking around four months to complete. They also provide a junior walkthrough of Halloween inflatables with an ‘I spy’ game for the less brave.

Wicksteed Park director Kelly Richardson said: “We are thrilled to have teamed up with Steve and Kat to create what is an amazing Halloween attraction, which I am sure will be very popular.”

“If you are looking for something to do with the family this Halloween, why wouldn’t you visit the attraction created by Mr and Mrs Halloween themselves.”

Entry to the Haunted Halloween House is included in a £15 wristband, which allows visitors unlimited access to selected rides and attractions which are open throughout the Halloween period.
