Rushden pub to re-open after brief closure

A Rushden pub is to re-open its doors this evening after a change of management and brief closure.

The King Edward VII in Queen Street closed at the start of last month due to financial difficulties, with the previous owners departing the pub they saved from closure in October 2024.

A post on its Facebook page said: “After six weeks of hard work behind the scenes, we’re finally ready to open the doors of The King Edward at 5pm [on Friday, September 4]!

“Our aim is simple – to bring back a proper local community pub, just like the days gone by.

“After seeing the previous success of Billy and Greg, we’re striving to bring those great days back.

“We’ve put together a strong, experienced bar team who are ready to give everyone a warm welcome and help make The King Edward a pub the whole community can enjoy.”

The pub is promising everything you’d expect, such as cold drinks, a proper local atmosphere, Sky Sports, good times and good company.

And as for New Year’s Day… “We’re planning something Rushden has never seen before, with more details to follow.

“And that’s just one of the many events we have planned for The King Edward…

“We want to make The King Edward more than just a pub – we want it to be a proper local, a place where people know each other, have a laugh, enjoy themselves and feel part of the community.

“Whether you remember the pub from years ago or you’ve never been through the doors before, come down tomorrow, say hello and be part of the next chapter.”
