Return to rehearsal decision is music to the ears of Gretton Silver Band members

A village brass band will be back rehearsing after an enforced break after pandemic precautions prevented the group's practices.

Gretton Silver Band has been given the go ahead by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport for amateur brass bands to restart rehearsals

The band has had to show that they can follow some very ridged safety procedures.

Band Chairman, Peter Weston said: "It has been a long time since March when the band had to stop rehearsals due to the coronavirus lockdown, so we are very pleased that we can start up again.

"Our secretary Lloyd Preston has worked very hard to draw up a set of procedures, following advice from Brass Bands England , which will ensure that we meet the strict requirements that will allow us to commence with our rehearsals."

The band will start rehearsals on Friday, October 16, in Gretton Village Hall, starting at 8.30pm.

Mr Weston added: "All members of the band are invited to come along on the 16th so that we can, once again, enjoy making music and hopefully continue with the long tradition of having a brass band since it was first formed in 1877."
