Raunds town hall to light up blue for Neurofibromatosis month
Raunds town hall will be one of 229 building and landmarks to be lit up in blue for World NF (Neurofibromatosis) Month this weekend.
On Sunday, May 17, Raunds town hall will be one of many building ‘shining a light on NF’ and supporting the Nerve Tumours UK charity campaign.
The nationwide campaign aims to raise awareness about neurofibromatosis, an incurable neuro-genetic condition that causes tumours to grow on nerve endings, affecting over 26,000 children and adults living in the UK.
A Nerve Tumors UK spokesman said: “Combined, NF is one of the most common neuro-genetic conditions, although it can still be classified as a rare condition.

“Parents have a 50 per cent chance of passing this genetic condition onto their child, but 50 per cent of all diagnoses are the first one within the family.”
For over 45 years, Nerve Tumours UK has provided support and advice to help the children and adults in the UK diagnosed with NF, along with their carers, family members and wider support network, which can include teachers, employers and all types of healthcare professionals.
