Popular Kettering town centre venue closes after local 'issues' as Environmental Health team investigation underway
Kettering’s town centre restaurant bar – Kino Lounge – has closed its doors after pest ‘issues’ around the popular venue.
Customers have been greeted by signs taped to the doors and windows sending apologies to clients saying the Lounge was closed ‘due to essential maintenance’.
It is believed the bar shut its doors on Wednesday afternoon (October 1) and today (Friday) staff and contractors have been seen inside and outside the building.
Stewart Hakewill Watson, Lounges operations manager, said: “Due to some issues within the local area, as a precaution, we decided to temporarily close Kino Lounge for some maintenance. We are hoping to be open once again tomorrow morning, so look forward to welcoming everyone back then.”

Users of the adjacent Parish Hall in Market Place have also been told their building – attached to the Kino – has also been closed for unscheduled but urgent and essential property maintenance believed to be for ‘safety’ reasons.
A spokeswoman for North Northants Council’s Environmental Health said: “We have noted the concerns raised regarding pest activity in this locality. The Environmental Health team are currently investigating the matter in line with our statutory responsibilities. While we cannot comment on the specifics of an ongoing investigation, we take all reports of public health risks seriously and act accordingly to ensure food safety and protect the public.”
Property maintenance operatives have been seen entering the building with a staff member from Rentokil checking traps in a bin store at the front of the building.
