A much-loved Corby play centre is set for a grand reopening after being shut for six months due to Covid restrictions.

Cheeky Monkees has been serving the town for 15 years but had to close its doors during lockdown but now staff at the indoor play area will be welcoming guests back next week.

Using Covid security measures backed by the British Association of Leisure Parks, Piers and Attractions, staff will be deep cleaning between the two-hour sessions.

Co-owner Sharon Moffatt said: "We're so excited and we can't wait to be back. It's been a long six months but now we have everything in place to re-open."

As lockdown was imposed, the play centre furloughed their staff, the business surviving by paying their rent with a goverment grant.

The owners used the time to clean and paint the facility and prepare the space to be Covid compliant.

Sharon said: "We will have three two-hour sessions. We will close for an hour to deep clean the whole building with an NHS grade spray.

"The ball pools have been emptied and we have taken some of the tables away.

"We have taken guidance and we can have 90 bodies - adults and children - in a session.

"We are not allowed to do parties but we hope to be doing them soon."

Sharon added: "Our cafe will be open as normal with a full menu and our manager Debbie's fabulous homemade cakes."
