Police say a body found in parkland in Corby early on Wednesday morning is not being treated as a suspicious death.

Volunteers from Northamptonshire Search & Rescue with help from Warwickshire and Leicestershire discovered the body in Wensleydale Park, Corby.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: “Police officers were called to the sudden death of a man at about 9.30am on Wednesday (October 21).

“We are not treating the death as suspicious and are preparing a report for the coroner.”

A statement from Northamptonshire Search & Rescue said: "Early on Wednesday morning, the team were called to assist Northamptonshire Police with a search for a missing person.

"Teams deployed rapidly to the area but, unfortunately, early on search dog Ted indicated on a location where subsequently a body was found.

"The team's thoughts are with the missing person's family at this time."
