Police cordon off car park after incident at Rothwell hotel
Police officers are on the scene of an incident that took place in the early hours of today in Rothwell.
A cordon has been place around the Rothwell House Hotel, with officers guarding the scene in Bridge Street.
Emergency services were called to the car park of the hotel today (November 10), where there is an inner police cordon.
Locals say the hotel, that is currently for sale, was being used to house local authority guests.
Previously used to house asylum seekers by the Home Office, its contract finished in January 2024.
One resident said: “Since it was used as an asylum hotel, we don’t know what’s going on. There’s lots of rumours.”
Another shop worker said they only found out about the incident this morning when they went past the scene.
