While outline planning permission for the scheme has already been granted, this is a reserved matters application for a new primary school, community centre, nursery and local children's play area as part of the overall development.

Kettering-based firm GSS Architecture have been appointed as architects and lead consultants for the design and delivery of the two-form entry primary school.

The school, designed for 420 pupils, is required to be included in phase one of the masterplan and would be built alongside the first phase of the residential element.

It would be for children aged between five and 11, and staff numbers are estimated to be approximately 26 full-time and 10 part-time based on a typical two-form entry primary school.

The application says the school building is designed to be expanded to a three-form entry school to allow for a rise in birth rate, migration and increased housing.

The nursery would be for children aged up to five.

The community centre would include a community space/hall, communal facilities, kitchen and toilets.

Documents submitted as part of the application say: "The new two-form entry primary school, community centre, nursery and LEAP/NEAP will provide two key buildings within the new community, providing purpose-built facilities that can facilitate the delivery of excellent learning opportunities for local children and benefit the wider community.

"The community centre will offer a place where members of the new community, of all age groups, can meet for a variety of social activities."
