According to Google Trends, there has been a surge in searches for 'Animals in Need Northamptonshire' and 'puppies for sale' in the county.
To help these deserving dogs find loving homes, this newspaper has partnered with the Irchester-based Animals in Need charity.
Charity boss Annie Marriott said: "When people adopt a rescue, they save two dogs: the one they bring home and the one that gets the empty kennel. Their lives often depend on it. All our dogs are neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, parasite-treated, and come with four weeks of free insurance, a session with dog behaviourist Nathan Watson, and rescue support for their entire lives.
"If you're interested in welcoming one of our dogs into your home, please email [email protected]. We always conduct a home check and cannot rehome dogs to families with children under five years."
Below are the dogs needing rehoming this week, with descriptions provided by Annie.

5. Diva
Diva is a sweet, four-year-old retired racer who’s a bit shy and still getting used to the world. She adores people, although she may be a little timid at first, and loves to cuddle once she’s comfortable. Diva enjoys the company of other dogs and would thrive in a home with a gentle but confident dog to help her build confidence. She’s currently sharing a kennel with her buddy Dylan. She walks beautifully on a lead and wears a muzzle on walks as a precaution from her racing days. Diva is also very clean in her kennel. Photo: AIN

6. RJ
RJ is full of personality—playful and lively, with a tendency to get a bit overexcited. There’s no aggression to it; he’s just a big, clumsy dog who’d do well with older kids who can handle his energy. He loves his sleep and can often be found napping in funny positions, which seem to work for him. RJ is very affectionate, enjoys meeting people, and walks nicely on a lead. He generally gets along well with other dogs but needs some supervision around food. RJ will make a great companion for a family who can appreciate his quirks. Photo: AIN

7. Autumn
This lovely little lady is just beginning to discover the world around her. Autumn seems new to life’s experiences, but with some encouragement, she’s starting to embrace her playful, young-dog spirit. Initially, she may come across as shy and reserved, but with a few minutes, her true personality begins to shine. Autumn would thrive in a home that prioritizes building her confidence and social skills, allowing her inner superstar to emerge. She appears comfortable around other dogs, but a gentle, gradual introduction would be best. Photo: AIN

8. Edward
Edward is a handsome one-year-old Boxer X who joined us from the pound. He is full of energy so will need an active home with a patient family willing to commit to ongoing training. He should be fine to live with children over the age of 16 years. We are not yet sure how he feels about other animals. Photo: AIN
