According to Google trends, many people have been searching for 'Animals in Need Northamptonshire' and 'puppies for sale' in the county.
So this newspaper has teamed up with the Irchester-based Animals in Need charity to help find forever homes for their rescue dogs.
Charity boss Annie Marriott said: "When people adopt a rescue they save two dogs: the dog they take home and the pound dog that gets that empty kennel. Their lives often depend upon it.
"All the dogs are neutered, fully vaccinated, ID chips, parasite treated and leave us with four weeks free insurance, a session with Nathan Watson dog behaviourist and rescue back up for their whole life.
"If you're interested in welcoming one of our dogs into your home, please email [email protected]
"We always do a home check and cannot rehome dogs to families with children under five years."
Below are the dogs that need rehoming this week, with descriptions written by Annie.

5. Leyla
Leyla is a lovely three-year-old Beagle. She’s fine walking with other dogs, but she couldn’t live with one. Leyla suffers from separation anxiety, so she cannot be left alone for long periods. She needs an active family who can take her on long walks, but she cannot be let off lead as she has no recall. Photo: AIN

6. Mango
Mango is a two-year-old female Collie X. She is very nervous and will take some time to learn to trust you. She’s not yet completely comfortable walking on a lead and will only eat or play with toys when she feels no one is watching, as if she’s worried about being told off. Mango still needs training in the basics, such as lead walking and toilet training, so she will require a calm and patient family who can encourage her at a slow, steady pace. She would likely benefit from living with a calm, established dog who can help bring out the best in her. Photo: AIN

7. Goose
Goose is a super-friendly 18-month-old Spaniel. He knows a few commands and is eager to learn more. He needs an active family who will include him in their adventures and continue his training. Goose can be reactive to other dogs and will chase cats, so a pet-free home is required. Photo: AIN

8. Edward
Edward is a handsome one-year-old Boxer X who joined us from the pound. He’s full of energy and will need an active home with a patient family willing to commit to ongoing training. He should be fine to live with children over the age of 16 years. We are still unsure how he feels about other animals. Photo: AIN
