Pair of Raunds organisations which are the 'backbone of our community' given grants by mayor

Nene Valley Osteopathy and Archers of Raunds have each been handed a grant from Raunds Town Council to give a boost to their services.

A cheque for £200 was handed to Nene Valley Osteopathy by Raunds mayor, Cllr Richard Levell, for shop improvement.

He said: "I am delighted that the town council has been able to support Nene Valley Osteopathy through our grant scheme.

"Local businesses are the backbone of our community and it is wonderful to see them investing in their presence on our high street.”

The grant has contributed to a series of external enhancements to the Brook Street shop, including the repainting of the main doors and masonry beneath the windows, the installation of a new Perspex sign of opening times by the front entrance.

Also benefitting from a grant, local archery group, Archers of Raunds were handed £500 to help ‘strengthen future operations.’

Cllr Levell added: “It is a pleasure to support the Archers of Raunds as groups like this provide more than just sport; they offer a sense of community and a way for residents to stay active. The town council is happy to play a part in their continued success."

The mayor visited the club to present the cheque and meet with members. The funding has helped the club cover essential venue hire costs and replace aging equipment to ensuring the sport remains accessible.

The club, which formed in July 1971 provides valuable coaching to beginners, as well as those looking to move into competitions, and beyond.
