Notice of vacancy for Wellingborough Town Council following resignation of prominent councillor
Wellingborough Town Council has posted a notice of vacancy on the council following the resignation of Cllr Marion Turner-Hawes last week.
Cllr Turner-Hawes resigned from her role as councillor for the Victoria Ward, saying she 'no longer has faith in the council' and that the ongoing Swanspool pavilion project 'revealed many weaknesses in the council.'
Now, to fill the spot she has left on the town council, a by-election for the seat may be called if a written request is made by ten registered local government electors in the town’s Victoria Ward.

The requests must be submitted within 14 days of the town council's notice (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays), which is dated Friday, October 23, 2026.
Once received, the Returning Officer will set the date of an election within 60 days of the aforementioned notice.
Should a by-election not be requested by 10 people wo live within the ward, which is now represented by Faith Hewitt (Conservative), Kelly Duddridge (Labour) and Raj Mishra (Independent), Wellingborough Town Council will co-opt a person to fill the vacancy.
Requests should be submitted by post or in person (via appointment), to the Proper Officer with the details:
