An organisation that links volunteers with people who need support is urging people to keep asking for help if they need it.

Voluntary Impact Northamptonshire is concerned that as lockdown restrictions ease vulnerable people will no longer get the support they require and there will be an unmet need.

The non-profit is working to identify where this unmet need might be so that they can assist and offer support to those who are vulnerable beyond the shielded list.

The organisation has launched the movement for unmet need. The organisation has launched the movement for unmet need.

Their aim is to ensure the vulnerable within Northamptonshire have somewhere to turn to for any help or support they need.

A spokesperson for Voluntary Impact said: “The Covid-19 pandemic has shone a light on vulnerability in a way previously never seen.

“The truth is though that vulnerability has always been there, and has been there for some time. Covid-19 has just brought this into a sharper focus.

“As a volunteer bureau we can match volunteers to unmet need and supply volunteers if required. We call it the Movement for Unmet Need.”

If individuals living in Northampton feel they need further help and support including having someone to talk to or collect shopping and prescriptions, or if organisations are recognising gaps or cannot deal with the unmet need, they should contact Voluntary Impact on 01604 637522 or email [email protected]
