North Northants Community First Responders mark Restart a Heart Day with lessons in life-saving skills
North Northants Community First Responders are out in force for Restart a Heart Day, teaching hundreds of schoolchildren the lifesaving skills that could one day help them save a life.
Volunteers from the charity are visiting schools across North Northamptonshire throughout Friday, giving pupils the opportunity to learn about cardiac arrest, how to recognise when someone needs help, how to perform CPR and how to use a defibrillator.
Schools taking part include Little Stanion, Loatlands Primary School, Cottingham Primary School, Brambleside Primary School, Pytchley Primary School, Isham Primary School and St Mary's Primary School.
North Northants Community First Responders are passionate about showing young people that they can make a difference.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “We want children to understand that you don’t have to be a doctor, paramedic or medical professional to help save a life. Knowing how to call 999, start CPR and use a defibrillator can make a huge difference while waiting for emergency services to arrive.”
“Restart a Heart Day is a fantastic opportunity to get these skills into schools and empower the next generation with the confidence to act in an emergency.”
A cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere and at any time. When someone’s heart stops beating normally, every second matters.
Starting CPR and getting a defibrillator to the casualty as quickly as possible can dramatically improve their chances of survival.

The charity believes that teaching children these skills from a young age is incredibly important.
Children may often be the first person to witness an emergency involving a family member, friend or member of the public. Giving them the confidence and knowledge to recognise an emergency, call 999 and begin CPR could make a life-changing difference.
With volunteers visiting schools across the area today, hundreds of North Northamptonshire pupils are being given the chance to learn a skill that could stay with them for life and one day, could help them save one.
The spokesperson added: “If you are part of a school and have the time and space for our charity to come in for the day and teach your students these potentially lifesaving skills, please reach out to us!
“We would love to visit more schools across North Northamptonshire and help give the next generation the confidence to recognise, react and save a life. Please email us at: [email protected].”
North Northants Community First Responders would like to thank all of the schools, teachers, pupils and volunteers taking part in this year’s Restart a Heart Day.
