No Prime suspect in case of abandoned Amazon van stuck in mud in Northants town

Residents concerned by an ‘abandoned’ Amazon delivery van in Desborough called the police to alert them to the vehicle, worried that it may have been stolen.

The van appeared to have been driven along a pathway off Matlock Way on a town housing estate and left up to one of its axles in mud – the prime suspect was the wet weather, making the area boggy.

With no reports of the vehicle being stolen, Northants Police seized the van.

A spokesman for Northants Police said: “A member of the public called us at 11.40am on Saturday (February 7) to report that the van appeared to have been left in the location sometime overnight.

“The van had not been reported stolen, an officer who attended the scene tried to contact the owner of the vehicle, which was a hire company, but to no avail. The van appeared to be empty, and it was causing an obstruction, it was seized and removed from the location.”
