From the moment you set foot in Northamptonshire, you’ll find that there’s something for everyone in this East Midlands county. The crannies of this county have much to offer to the keen eyed tourist or the loyal local.
From charming countryside that evokes a smile from even the stoniest of faces to the bountiful history of shoemaking and the arts, Northamptonshire has more up its sleeve than being just another county on the M1 for London-goers.
Whether you’re ready to grab your shopping bags and head into a town centre or don your team caps and watch a Formula 1 at Silverstone, the county has you covered.
Here are nine reasons to love Northamptonshire – or nine reasons to make you fall in love with the county.

5. Formula 1
Another thing we love is wheels, especially ones that spin way too fast. Formula 1 fans scramble for seats at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix each year. The annual race has been held at Silverstone as early as the 1940’s. The Mercedes-Petronas F1 team use Brixworth as their headquarters and quality car parts are manufactured here, too. 6. Independent businesses
Northampton Town Centre is jam-packed with small businesses, and there are plenty of others dotted around other county towns and villages, so you and your wallet can enjoy your shopping trip guilt free! Small businesses are the heart of county’s economy; with shops ranging from vintage clothing and furniture to family-run grocery shops and bakeries, there’s a lot to be found in the nooks. 7. Sport
Sixfields Stadium is home to the Cobblers with a loyal fanbase that consists of celebrity Shaquille O’Neal (seriously!) and a League One side that produces entertaining performances every game. Then there is the world famous Saints rugby team, a winning machine boasting six major titles and represented by the iconic black green and yellow strip. Saints has produced fine rugby players since its establishment and are a force to be reckoned with in Rugby Union. Photo: Pete Norton

8. Warner’s Gin
Calling all gin lovers: world-famous Warner’s, known for their variety of flavoured gins, produce their bottles on their family farm in Harrington. The Warner Family has produced iconic gin flavours such as their pink Rhubarb and London Dry gins. Thanks to this, they have become a staple in pubs across the UK, and there’s a bit of Northampton in every sip. Photo: Warner’s Gin
