New mural celebrates Kettering Town FC’s Britannia Road history
Kettering Town FC’s history has been celebrated in a new mural close to their former Rockingham Road home.
Adorning the front of the Poppies Community Centre in Britannia Road, Kettering, the artwork features Kettering Town FC’s iconic ‘K’ floodlights and the main stand as well as the club’s crest.
Created by Kettering artist Jimski Pratt and his team of painters, the mural acts as signage for the community centre which opened in October 2025.

George Akhtar, Kettering Town FC’s chairman, said: “I’m thrilled to see our mural unveiled at the Poppies Community Centre celebrating our club’s proud heritage and the legacy of our former Rockingham Road home.
“The new public art also links with KTFC’s investment to bring the community centre to life and looks ahead towards our ambitious and exciting future”.
Kettering Town FC operates the fully-refurbished community centre following a long-standing campaign led by Lesley and Kev Thurland, Ash Davies and a team of volunteers who secured the former Maplefields School sports hall for the benefit of the town.
Now a hive of activity, the centre hosts a wide range of voluntary groups, events and functions every week.
As well as a large multi-purpose hall, there is a well-equipped kitchen, toilet facilities and ample off-street parking.
2026 is a milestone year for KTFC with the club marking 50 years since it was the first football team in England to display a sponsor’s name on their shirts.
