Multiple reports of ‘dangerous and unavoidable’ pothole near Rushden Lakes
Motorists have reported a ‘huge’ pothole near the Rushden Lakes roundabout which has been described as ‘dangerous and unavoidable.’
A deep crater can be seen in Crown Way, on the approach to the A45 roundabout from The Waitrose side, a key route from the A45 to Rushden.
Several people have identified the defect and reported it on FixMyStreet, which allows people to report issues to North Northants Council.
One motorist said: “This pothole is a long crater that stretches across the lane making it unavoidable. It’s been there for months now and clearly not been reported as you would have fixed it by now. Surely it has to be cheaper to repair this than potentially face lots of insurance claims from damaged cars. The lakes roundabout is very busy and this is only going to get worse."

Another added: “This hole in the left hand lane covers the whole lane. You bounce through it.
“I know it is in an awkward place to fix. But seriously this is dangerous and unavoidable. This will cause an accident on an already accident prone roundabout.
“Please fix this. It is huge.”
According to FixMyStreet, an investigation of this pothole has been completed and ‘no further action’ is required.
However, the website says they will monitor the condition of it as part of the highway inspection schedule.
Anyone who sees the defect worsening should raise a new enquiry with FixMyStreet.
