Met Office issues weather warning for rain and snow in Northamptonshire

A weather warning has been issued for rain and snow in parts of Northamptonshire on Friday morning.

Met Office experts are predicting a band of wintery weather sweeping in from the east until 11am.

A spokesman said: "Heavy rain and snow could lead to tricky travel due to surface water and possible slushy accumulations.

"Snow may be briefly heavy in places, reducing visibility and leading to slippery surfaces."

The warning was issued at 8.32am and covers most of North Northamptonshire including Rushden, Kettering, Corby and Rothwell.

Local forecasters @NNweather are predicting: "A mainly cloudy Friday in the county with some outbreaks of rain or sleet at times. Highs of 4°C but feeling at or just below freezing with the windchill."
