A visit from the mayor helped make it a day to remember as Margaret Tirebuck celebrated the milestone of turning 100.

While lockdown restrictions meant the Raunds resident wasn't able to have the family celebration that had been planned, she was still able to enjoy the day with close family and a visit from the Raunds mayor Cllr Sylvia Hughes on Sunday (June 7) - albeit all within social distancing guidelines.

Margaret has three children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild, and those family members who weren't able to share her special day sent messages to help make it memorable.

She was also thrilled to receive a message from Her Majesty the Queen.

Cllr Hughes said: "It was lovely to meet Margaret on her 100th birthday.

"It is remarkable that having lived through so many changes to our lives that Margaret now celebrates her 100th birthday in these unprecedented times.
