Man tries to snatch child during suspicious incident in Wellingborough

A man tried to snatch a young child before threatening and assaulting a woman during a suspicious incident in Wellingborough.

The incident happened between 10.45am and 11.30am on Tuesday, March 3, near Olympic Way when a woman and her young child were approached by a man from behind.

A spokesman for Northants Police said: "The man picked up the child and made threats before assaulting the woman and then running away from the scene without the child."

The offender is described as a mixed race man in his 30s, of slim build, about 5ft, with black bushy hair and a European accent.
