A man was left unconscious after being kicked by a horse in Rushden.

Police and ambulance were called to Newton Road in Rushden today (Tuesday) following an incident involving a loose horse.

A spokesman for Northants Police said: "This happened at 11.20am and involved reports of a horse on the loose who had kicked out at a member of the public.

"The man it kicked was knocked unconscious but after treatment from paramedics at the scene, he seems to be okay."

The spokesman added that the horse has been rounded up and is no longer on the loose.
