An 87-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a bus in Wellingborough town centre.

Police were called to High Street at about 1.10pm today after the incident involving the elderly man and a single decker bus.

A spokesman for Northants Police said: "The air ambulance took the man to University Hospital Coventry with serious injuries."
