It was a day like no other.

Thousands lined the streets despite the rain to witness the Olympic torch make its way through the north of the county on July 2, 2012, ahead of the fantastic games that produced 65 medals - 29 of them gold.

Day 45 of the relay took the torch from Coventry to Leicester, passing through Wellingborough, Isham, Kettering, Geddington, Corby and Dingley with a party atmosphere.

This year's Olympics in Tokyo have been postponed until next year because of the coronavirus crisis.

So if you're craving some happy memories during the current lockdown, take a look through a selection of our images from the momentous day the torch came to our county.
