Locks down for kind-hearted Higham Ferrers schoolboy Lucas with hair-raising lockdown food bank fundraiser

A Higham Ferrers schoolboy has been buzzing with excitement after a hair-raising charity fundraiser putting a food charity number one on his happy-to-help list.
Lucas Bevan's hair was becoming an unruly 'mop' according to his dad Guy, so the pair reached for the clippers but before making the first snip, the six-year-old thought of others.

Hide AdThe Henry Chichele Primary School pupil suggested raising money for a local food bank which the family already supports.
Guy said: "He is worried about people who can't eat so he asked if he could raise money with his hair cut.
"His sister Jenna, who is ten, has been doing fundraising for food banks. They are both aware of the need in the town. When Jenna was six she noticed there were people on the streets and he's seen his sister fundraising.
"As soon as I said about the haircut he said can I fundraise please."

Hide AdLucas's trim raised £190 with the money to be spent on much-needed goodies for the food bank run by Rushden-based East Northants Community Services that provides emergency meal parcels.
Guy, 44, said: "We will be using the money to buy food items but with the restrictions on how many of each thing we can get it will take us a while.
"I'm really very proud of both of my children. I'm lucky to have two kids who are socially-minded.
"You don't have to shave your hair off, you could donate a couple of tins. It's hard for everyone at the moment but if you can, spare a few quid here and there, and think about others."
